Angie “Oriana” Jenkins is a modern day Mary Magdalene who loves to dance, frolic in the garden, and luxuriate Several years ago, she started out on the path of the academic & received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature & French. While working on a Masters Thesis on the American poet, Walt Whitman through Acadia University, she also began learning about herbal medicine & belly dance & continued her practice & study of yoga which she had begun years prior. Walt Whitman's words were seductive & they urged her to leave the world of the mind & venture into the world of nature & the body. She decided to discontinue the thesis & follow her bliss. While working as a cashier at a health food store in Victoria, BC, Canada, she was exposed to many books & She also completed Rosemary Gladstar's “Science & Art of Herbalism” & went on to work as a retail herbalist, body care buyer, & manager. She was blessed to meet & attend seminars with many of the leading herbalists & health educators. All the while, she also embarked on her study of belly dance. What began as a hobby turned into a career as a performer & an instructor. Our belly dancing herbalist moved to Nova Scotia in 2009 & was blessed to become the herbalist on site at Avalon Gardens where she spent her days in the garden & became the co-producer of Avalon Herbal Products. A year later, she became the sole proprietor & re-branded the line which is now called Sister Lotus. She has since expanded the company to include cosmetic & medicinal body care products as well as belly dance & herbal education. Sister Lotus has since grown to include over 30 products, a staff of 5 belly dancing women, sold out classes & workshops on belly dance & herbs, & consistent media attention. She also spends time with clients in her home office & creates personal health programmes for them which include not only herbal recommendations, but also dietary suggestions, yoga poses, belly dance moves, affirmations, homeopathy, & other healing modalities. Clients also receive a personal tea blend. She attributes much of her success to the Law of Attraction, which involves the practice of gratitude, positive affirmations, & meditation. When she is not taking over the town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia with her belly dancing army, she loves to cuddle with Kitty Lotus & Cleopatra & to eat fantastic healthy gourmet meals & drink red wine with her friends.
